I am 42 years old. Am I too mature to apply? I have a wife and 5 children. What will be the immigration and visa requirements for our family and will there be any kind of part time work available? What schools will my children be able to attend?
Answer
There are no age restrictions for applicants. You may apply as long as you are over the age of 18 at the beginning of the academic year. Different immigration regulations apply to the the various nationalities. It is best for you to contact your closest Romanian or Argentinean Consulate or embassy regarding this matter.
Part time work for foreigners in Romania is limited. In Argentina there is a greater possibility of finding a part time job. The average monthly salary in Romania is around €350 at the time of this writing (2006) and in Argentina around 250USD for employees without a university degree. There are various English language private schools that foreign children may attend in both countries.

What kind of climate can we expect in Romania? Is the Romanian weather extreme?
Answer
Romania is a large country and has different climate zones. On the south eastern border of the country is the Black Sea which can have temperate climates. In most parts of the country however, one can expect cold winters and hot summers with snow in winter. From our experience of traveling in Romania, we would say the weather is beautiful. Carry cool clothes for summer warm wear for winter. Students can expect to find a variety of affordable brand name clothing in Romania.
As with most Eastern European countries the best time to visit is during spring or autumn- April, May, September. During summer the weather is too hot (e.g. up 40 degrees Celsius in sunlight).
Summer and winter are the good seasons for visiting the Prahova Valley. Also during summer you can go to the seaside or visit the Danube Delta.
Spring is pleasant with cool mornings and nights and warm days.
Summer is quite warm, with extended sunny days. The hottest areas in summer are the lowlands in southern and eastern Romania where 100 F is often reached in July and August. Temperatures are always cooler in the mountains.
Autumn is dry and cool, with fields and trees producing colorful foliage, much like New England. This would be a spectacular time to visit the northern parts of the country where nature bursts with the most beautiful display of color.
Winters can be cold, especially in the mountains. While not the rule, abundant snowfalls may occur throughout the country, from December to mid-March.
There are significant regional differences of the climate between different regions of Romania.
